Dorset Fire Authority announce 5 operational fire professional apprenticeships

As Chairman of the Dorset Fire Authority, which has many difficult decisions to make with the Dorset Fire & Rescue Service, I am delighted that the Dorset Fire Authority unanimously supported and encouraged DFRS to start the professional fire service apprenticeship scheme from 2014. We are a service dedicated to local community safety, and this includes dedicating finance to encouraging and promoting young people to be able to be part of this fantastic service. Amongst all the difficult discussions, the one to recommend encouraging young people was to all the elected Members of the Dorset Fire Authority, who represent you all, well, we just had to, it felt right and is right. The Dorset Fire Authority, membership of 15 elected, felt very strongly about promotion and help for young people. I am so grateful to the Members and the Senior Officer team for endorsing it.
