The announcement last week that the Marshwood Vale community group had been successful in being granted funding from central government to ensure superfast broadband for the area is fantastic. The press notice included the following villages and surrounding areas. The areas to benefit are parts of Marshwood, Broadwindsor, Bettiscombe, Stoke Abbott, Thorncombe and some surrounding parishes which were not already included in the Superfast Dorset project. I am just trying to find out about the maps and how they are now linked up to other already planned rollout. Detail aside, there is now more green than before in our part of West Dorset. I will continue to work hard with all including the NFU, CLA, parishes, communities and those with particular technological solutions for clusters of residents in hard to reach places. Superfast, and for some just getting to 20MB would be way more than the less than 1MB received at present has to be a priority. Here is the current map and time indicators, just seeking further clarity. Alongside this needs to be the 4G rollout too, which is also being developed. All technologies are in the mix to deliver the much needed communications network which supports all public and private service delivery.
Thanks must go to Charles Somers who has dedicated his time to spearheading the Marshwood Vale project, Oliver Letwin MP and local councillors from parish, to district and County. A truly joint partnership which along with all residents shows that working together gets results.
