It was a fairly short agenda but within that some very important discussions. I was keen for a decision by our Children’s Services department to get agreement that young people’s access to help, if they have emotional and mental health issues, was monitored in a way that shows us as a County, that those young people, ages 0-25 yrs, are getting the help they and their families need quickly. This was agreed. Child Sexual Exploitation is high on all our agendas, Dorset has a well developed programme to help and advise young people, working with Dorset Police, to help young people identify a threat to them. We as a community concerned about all children and young people need to be aware of the issue. If you would like advice if you are just a bit worried about contact with any person which might be considered inappropriate please alert the family’s help service. If you do not know how, just let me know.
There were other very important matters discussed at the Cabinet Meeting today, but in view of the need to help young people with emotional issues is so important for us all as a community, that is key for me.
